PRLog -- Sapphire Skin Care & Healing is offering 50% off all spa treatments for anyone who is battling or has survived breast cancer. The offer will be available indefinitely. In fact, the spa wants to treat as many breast cancer patients/survivors as possible. Sapphire offers traditional skin care treatments and also Reiki, a gentle, noninvasive healing technique that promotes deep relaxation.
Owner Patti Robinson, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in October, 2014, has a strong desire to "pay it forward" to the Portland breast cancer community. "Rather than dwelling on the guilt I had over being able to get by with just a lumpectomy, I decided to turn it around in a positive way and give back", says Robinson. "I now intimately know what it is like to have breast cancer and the tremendous amount of strength and courage it takes to walk through it. Everyone who has fought breast cancer deserves special gifts in life. I feel fortunate to be able to give such a gift- it's the beauty of owning your own business."
One in eight people are diagnosed with breast cancer today, which means there are a lot of individuals who could use some pampering. One of Robinson's sisters died from breast cancer in the late 1990's, and her father unexpectedly passed away due to pancreatic cancer a year earlier. She says both she and her surgeon were expecting dismal results from her genetic tests, but they surprisingly came back clear. "I mentally prepared for the worst with a mastectomy and reconstruction, but in the end it made sense to not take such a drastic approach," explains Robinson. She says she does not consider herself a victim at all, she just feels very blessed to be on her way towards full recovery. And, Patti is ready to make a contribution in a big way by paying it forward, one breast cancer survivor at a time.
