CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield Data Breach

May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Law firm Abington Cole + Ellery is currently investigating a confirmed data breach at health insurance provider CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. This data breach affected CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield members in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.

Breached data includes the following members' information: member names, dates of birth, email addresses, member identification numbers, and CareFirst website usernames.

The same attack methods may have been used in this breach that were used in the Anthem and Premera breaches.  According to CareFirst the hackers did not access Social Security or credit card numbers, passwords or medical information.  CareFirst is offering two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection.
