MINNEAPOLIS - May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Last fall, Boom Island Park on the Mississippi River was host to a full scale Emergency Preparedness Exercise involving over 220 participants -departments from multiple jurisdictions, local, county, state, and federal partners of multiple disciplines (i.e. Police, Fire, EMS, Emergency Management, Health, Emergency Communications, US Coast Guard, Dept. Of Homeland Security, FBI).

The exercise, coordinated by Tom Miller, Minneapolis Office of Emergency Management, and Jonathan Bundt, Masa Consulting, was a simulation of a radiological dispersal device explosion or “dirty bomb” and the resulting actions that first responders and supporting disciplines followed in addressing the incident.

Last week, the documentary video about the exercise, produced by iDream.tv, a Minneapolis based media production company,  was recognized by the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators (MAGC); the video received an Award of Excellence and was nominated for Best of Show.

"It was a privilege to participate alongside the first responders and emergeny staff in preparing to make our city and the region a safer place to live, work and play", reflected Edie French, President and CEO, iDream.tv.

Kelly Fisher, Master Exercise Practitioner, Hennepin County Emergency Management, said  “This video sets the standard for emergency preparedness training documentation.”

"The production team at iDream.tv was absolutely wonderful to work with", said Tom Miller, exercise director.  "iDream.tv did a particularly nice job in compressing all the necessary highlights and key events of the structured day-long exercise into a short video. The heat and humidity caused cameras to overheat and heavy wind presented technical recording challenges; but iDream.tv addressed this without issue.  Operation Raging River was a fast paced exercise and iDream.tv video crews and staff handlers did a great job of honoring the needs of participants and still created a product that captured the chaos, pressure, and spirit of the event.
