TULSA, Okla. - May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Oklahoma’s own Russ Dugger races to impressive 5th place finish at Talladega

In what was to be his farewell to professional racing Russ Dugger and the DGM team had their engine firing with all cylinders on go. With results like this Russ Dugger and devoted partners are now gearing up for an exciting 2016 racing schedule.

In the heart of Alabama on NASCAR’s largest and fastest track Oklahoma’s only premiere licensed driver, Russ Dugger, and the DGM Racing team started in 12th position, managed to stay unscathed during a couple of wrecks, and battled back from a 21st position to finish on the lead lap in 5th position in the ARCA International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 at Talladega Speedway.

Unlikely race results given that Dugger’s Super Speedway experience before Talladega amounted to a total of 7 laps, it was his first professional race in three years and his first ARCA start in five years.

But on May 2, 2015 Dugger overcame the underdog odds and credits the DGM Racing Team and sponsors.

"I had some racing veterans on my team" said Dugger. "Tony Raines (former Sprint Cup Driver) was my spotter, his Crew Chief and NASCAR XFinity Driver , Mario Gosselin, both gave me invaluable advice about midway through the race. We found ourselves in 21st position so I asked the veterans for help and they responded. Telling me what I was doing right but also what I wasn’t doing but needed to be doing. I put that advice into action on the track and we drove back to the front of the pack."

Getting back to the front of the pack was a challenge considering the average speed during the race was 125 miles per hour. Dugger drove the Tanda Racing, "Promoting Youth in Motorsport" Chevrolet. This was the same car he drove at Daytona earlier this year and missed the show. "Our sponsors rallied at Daytona and made the quick decision to run the new engine package at Talladega, and the results speak for themselves" said Dugger.

"From start to finish the car was fun to drive. It drafted great, was easy to handle and it was fast, fast enough given the right circumstances to win the race." It was touted as his farewell to racing. But with results like this Russ Dugger Racing is in the planning stages of a three race series for 2016.
