By: The Battlegrounds 5 p.m. The Battlegrounds, which is St. Louis’ largest permanent mud run obstacle course, is located at 950 State Highway 00 in Wright City, Mo. next to Cedar Lake Cellars winery and event venue. Deemed the “lollapalooza of mud runs”, the day will include three 5k fun run waves: an Obstacle Course Racing World Championships’ an open adult wave for those 18 years of age and older beginning at 9 a.m., and; a family-friendly wave for those eight years of age and older starting at 10 a.m. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult throughout the course, and those 12 and under must have their own life jacket to wear on water-related obstacles. This is the first time in The Battlegrounds’ Other activities include a family foam fest fun area for all ages from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An obstacle challenge at the Gauntlet, which consists of six lanes of varying difficulties situated over an eight-foot deep water pit, will take place at noon. The event will feature live music, as well as contests for best mud run costumes and additional obstacle challenges. There will be on-course wine tasting for those 21 years of age and older. The Battlegrounds has plenty of amenities including free parking and gear check, as well as on-site showers for mud run participants. The race has walkable access to the adjacent Cedar Lake Cellars winery for those 21 years of age and older. The race costs $50 per person before June 5, $60 before July 18, and $75 the day of the race. Non-racer admission for the family foam fest fun is $10 per person with children under eight free of charge.
