70 Businesses Recognized for "Doing Well By Doing Good"

CULVER CITY, Calif. - May 21, 2015 - PRLog -- With more than 100 people in attendance, Exceptional Children’s Foundation (ECF) honored and thanked 70 business and community partners at its inaugural Business Partner Recognition Luncheon held at Killer Shrimp Restaurant in Marina del Rey (CA) on May 19.

These businesses make it possible for ECF adult clients with developmental disabilities to have access to employment opportunities – resulting in their leading more fulfilling and independent lives. ECF’s business partners have set inspiring examples as a result of employing and working with people with developmental disabilities. ECF’s partners also include philanthropic businesses whose financial and in-kind support helps fulfill ECF’s mission.

“ECF’s business partners understand the importance of workplace integration. They’re proof that it strengthens operations while simultaneously creating opportunities for workplace and community acceptance. Our partners are also committed to our mission, and their generosity makes a significant impact on the lives of our children and adult clients. This event placed a well-deserved spotlight on all of our business partners that do well by doing good,” explained Scott Bowling, ECF President and CEO.

ECF also paid special recognition to four of its partners for their exceptional support and partnership. Jim Hill, CBS 2 Sports Director, event master of ceremonies, presented four Exceptional Business Awards alongside ECF clients. Hawker Pacific Aerospace was recognized for hiring nine ECF clients and being an effective advocate for inclusive workplaces in the aerospace industry; Zhena’s Gypsy Tea was recognized for contracting with ECF’s work activity program and utilizing the talents of 60 clients this past year to complete a variety of packaging and assembly projects; and Lowe Enterprises was recognized for making in-kind contributions of food baskets, toys, clothing, and household items that impacted the young children and families of ECF’s Early Start program. Ivan Rosenberg received ECF’s Exceptional Ambassador Award for his commitment to identifying new business opportunities and his tireless advocacy to develop cultures of inclusion.

Tex Boggs, President of Antioch University Los Angeles, provided the keynote address and explained a key benefit of corporate social responsibility, “When for-profit businesses partner with nonprofits, everyone’s lives are changed.”
