Sleep Program is a unique program that deals with nighttime- a period in a child’s life that is rarely addressed. The program is twofold, bringing both warmth and comfort to the children as well as vital information they need to ensure a good night’s rest. The R.E.M. Sleep Program begins with a 30-mintue presentation, educating the children on the importance of sleep and good hygiene habits. After the presentation, each child receives a sleep kit containing: a blanket, reading book by sleep professional, Dr. James B. Maas, Sweet Dreamzzz t-shirt, toothbrush and toothpaste. The program at Taylor Parks will serve 53 Kindergarten students. Additionally, the parents of these children will receive a Sweet Dreamzzz Parent Sleep Education Workshop™. This program is a PowerPoint presentation designed to educate parents on the importance of sleep, the number of hours required, and a bedtime routine to follow at home. Parents receive healthy sleep and eating tips, a Sweet Dreamzzz bedtime routine magnet, along with bedtime routine sticker charts and stickers. This is in accordance with the sleep education their children will be receiving. Founded in 1998, Sweet Dreamzzz, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to improving children’s health, well-being, and academic performance by providing sleep education and bedtime essentials to economically disadvantaged students and their families. Since its inception, Sweet Dreamzzz has served more than 45,000 children and families.
