Three Inmates to Sue Grainger County over Deplorable Jail Conditions

May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- These men were held in cells with no sink, toilet, bed, or lights, or with a toilet which would overflow or even spew human waste.  The three men also claim they were only allowed to shower and exercise once a week.  Even one of the men claims he filed a pro se lawsuit over the jail’s conditions but guards opened his mail and shredded his papers.  Another inmate who has Hepatitis C says he was denied medical treatment for his condition while confined in the “drunk tank.”

The suit seeks $41.4 million in compensatory and punitive damages and are asking for a review of jail conditions by an outside contractor along with a reduction in the jail’s population which has a maximum occupation of 78 males and 22 females.
