10th Annual RARE & UNIQUE NATIVE PLANT AUCTION

At Mounts Botanical Garden - May 19

Free Event in West Palm Beach is Hosted by the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society

(West Palm Beach, FL – May 15, 2015) The Palm Beach County Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society, dedicated to promoting the preservation, conservation and restoration of native plants and native plant communities of Florida, is hosting its 10th annual Rare & Unique Native Plant Auction next Tuesday, May 19. The popular free event will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mounts Botanical Garden Auditorium in West Palm Beach. All proceeds will support the FNPS mission.

Florida native plants attract butterflies and birds, conserve water, eliminate the need for harmful sprays and create an ecologically friendly and sustainable landscape. Native plants are becoming increasingly in demand as people realize they can positively impact the environment and have a beautiful landscape.

The 10th Annual Rare & Unique Native Plant Auction features Craig Huegel, Ecologist, Environmental and Landscape Consultant, and author of books on native plant landscaping for wildlife, gardening with wildflowers and landscaping with native plants in the shade. Craig will use his extensive knowledge of native plants to educate potential bidders about the plants offered in the Live and Silent Auctions. The Live Auction will feature groupings of unusual native plants, such as “Perfect Pairs”, “Bonsai Babies”, “Don’t Cry for Me - plants with a weeping habit” and “Sensational Scents”.  The silent auction will feature other unique or hard-to-find native plants, plus gardening and plant related items and services.
