By: NorCal Press This theatrical event, also known as the “Festival of 40 Plays in 4 Days”, presents a carefully vetted selection of submissions from 24 states and two countries. The fall celebration attracts thousands for a marathon of live theatre, educational workshops, cast parties and an international vendor’s market during the Columbus Day weekend. “We are simply ecstatic! The Morehouse College and AU Center area neighborhoods are in the heartland of where a significant part of American history was birthed. What better place to tell our stories!” says Toni Henson, Founder and Producing Director. The schedule features all genres of theatre including classical, traditional, comedy, and musicals as well as urban contemporary plays. This year’s opening performance is the world premiere of Bill Harris' Colored Lodgings directed by Keith Franklin. “There’ The Atlanta Black Theatre Festival will run from October 8-11, 2015. All main stage performances and the International Vendor’s Market will be held from 10am to 10pm at the Ray Charles facility while educational workshops and celebrity panels will be held at the African American Hall of Fame in the Martin L. King Chapel both on the Morehouse Campus in Atlanta. Cast parties will be held at various locations throughout the city. Parking is available on campus for $5. A la carte ticket prices will range from $20-$30 plus taxes and fees and weekend passes will also be available.
