Pro Makeup Artist Singrid Thompson to Host First Ever Couples Makeup Mixer

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - May 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Professional Makeup Artist Singrid Thompson is hosting Blush and Brushes Makeup Mixer: Couple’s Edition, presented by Primerica™ May 30, 2015 at the Tuscaloosa Fraternal Order of Police Lodge (3250 9th Court, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401). The mixer, a first of its kind, serves as a unique platform to empower and create conversation among men and women concerning the thin line between artistic expression and deception in the beauty industry.

“Men are visual,” said Thompson. “They are becoming frustrated with the makeup industry because many women no longer look like themselves. From changing a person’s color, to adding false eye lashes and penciling in eyebrows, at the end of the day, when they take it all off, the women no longer look like who the men were initially attracted to.”

In a competitive industry where makeup artists are often celebrated for transforming one’s features, Thompson, owner of iMakeUpMe Beauty Bar, Tuscaloosa is hosting the mixer in hopes of addressing a growing issue while building a bridge of transparency and acceptance beyond the makeup.

“I think beauty and self-confidence go hand-in-hand,” Thompson said. “I’ve been an insecure person and thought I had to put the makeup on for my husband to love me, and he taught me that the makeup doesn’t matter . . . focusing on what’s important in the other person does.”
