PURCELLVILLE, Va. - May 15, 2015 - PRLog -- We can’t forget the thousands of active duty military personnel that have made the ultimate sacrifice by losing their life while in combat to ensure that the freedoms of United States citizens remain just that – free.  Twenty-two veterans take their own life every day because they don’t know how to cope with the trauma and situations they’ve experienced while in military combat. These lives matter. These men and women are fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends, and heroes. No person should ever feel so lost that they feel the need to take their own life.

Honor Brewing Company, a brewery located in Chantilly, Virginia, not only makes quality craft beer, but they honor those who serve while giving back to charities for the fallen and injured.  Currently distributed in Virginia, North Carolina, Michigan, Florida and Georgia with many more states coming on board over the next 12 months, they honor veterans and the fallen by either raising a glass of their special craft beer in their memory, dedicating a six pack with their tribute story or they honor them by placing custom dog tags in their patent pending Tribute Tap in their memory at respective locations throughout the country in the veteran’s home town.

On Saturday, May 23rd beginning at 5:30pm at the Purcellville Fire House, Honor Brewing Company, along with several Gold Star Mothers and Wives, will participate in the Ruck to Remember event. The participants in the Ruck to Remember will conclude the first leg of their journey from Harpers Ferry, WV to Washington, DC, by stopping in Purcellville to honor the fallen soldiers, to salute veterans, and to recant memories. Attendees, 21 and over, can honor veterans by sampling Honor Brewing Company’s selections of Honor Golden Ale and Honor India Pale Ale.

David Keuhner, Partner, Honor Brewing Company, states, “Our goal at Honor is very simple.  We honor those who serve our country while giving back.  We look at craft beer as a way to raise a glass in their honor while celebrating their commitment, loyalty and courage for serving country.  It’s our way of saying Thank You and Never Forgetting.”

One of the fallen soldiers being honored will be Purcellville native SPC Stephen Mace, US Army. Stephen gave the ultimate sacrifice on October 3, 2009 at COP Keating, an Outpost in Nuristan Providence. Their outpost of 53 soldiers was attacked by 400 Taliban. Stephen lost his life by protecting fellow service men and ensuring their safety. Stephan loved his country and serving was very important to him. He was so determined to make sure there was never going to be terrorists on United States soil again. Stephen’s mother, Vanessa Adelson, a Gold Star Mother, will be in attendance on May 23rd to help remember her son and to salute other veterans.

Mandi Bennett, Gold Star Wife to Sgt. Kenneth Wade Bennett and Amanda Sheck, Gold Star Mother to LCpl Christopher Jacob Levy will be in attendance to tell their stories and to honor veterans.
