Follow on Google News | Pratt & Whitney Canada Announces $3 Million InvestmentBy: Pratt & Whitney Canada John Di Bert, Vice President for Customer Service says, "We are announcing a new program that will allow us to implement leading-edge parts repair technologies in order to increase our production, while offering better equipment to our employees and reducing our environmental footprint. This investment will make the facility a Centre of Excellence for repair of hot-section, non-rotating aircraft engine components in North America. It is key to maintaining our continued competitiveness.'' Additionally, the company is working with MSU's McCoy School of Engineering to incorporate senior design project students and to offer internships at the local plant. This agreement by the Wichita Falls Economic Development Corporation, the City of Wichita Falls and P&WC positions this facility for possible future growth for new product lines in after-market hot component repairs. Wichita Falls Mayor Glenn Barham says, "The City of Wichita Falls is committed to supporting local companies like Pratt & Whitney. In order for companies to remain competitive, they must keep up with the latest technology. This investment will ensure this facility maintains its value in a global economy." The Wichita Falls facility, which has been open since 1983, provides complete restoration of super-alloy components as well as section replacements and protective coating applications for a wide range of gas turbine components.
