Follow on Google News | This Week On Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend: Writer Molly McAleerBy: ARIYNBF “I was going to go to rehab, it was a very impulsive decision,” the HelloGiggles co-founder explained to Alison Rosen. She told the publisher, “Here’s this e-book idea, I’m going to go to rehab. I’m going to keep a diary. It’s going to be a total hero’s journey. [I’m just] going to be sober from there on out. And that’s going to be my book. Can I have some money?” Despite the name of her new book, McAleer says she doesn’t identify as an alcoholic. “I never really enjoyed drinking until I totally quit smoking pot. And that was for a guy. A guy was like, ‘I don’t like you as a stoner. Here, drink this wine.’” She recalls her quick switch to alcohol, saying, “I remember being at his house one day and pouring myself a glass of wine and I said to him, ‘Why do I like drinking now?’ He said, ‘You’re a lot better as a drunk.’ And I accepted that as an answer because I clearly have self worth issues, which is another trait of someone who deals with this kind of stuff.” On this episode of Alison Rosen Is Your New Best Friend, McAleer also talks about the stress of writing on Two Broke Girls, Catholic shame, animal cruelty, turning to an AOL chat room for adult supervision as a child and how Whitney Cummings bought her desk out of pity.
