Affordable Housing Network Co-sponsoring Urgent Rally for RENT RELIEF NOW at San Jose City Hall

SAN JOSE, Calif. - May 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Affordable Housing Network is co-sponsoring an urgent rally for RENT RELIEF NOW at San Jose City Hall this Wednesday, May 13. The meeting will commence outside at 1:30 PM and then enter the building to testify at the City Council Rules Committee meeting at 2 PM. The public is encouraged to join with The Affordable Housing Network to insist that City Council set a specific timeline to address Silicon Valley’s rental housing emergency.

In March the group heard the testimonies of people living in intolerable conditions, with serial rent increases and the constant threat of a ninety day notice if they complain or for no reason whatsoever.

All but the wealthiest workers are rapidly being priced out of their homes. The right to a home for people and their families is being stripped away with every passing day. The meeting is urgent that they dare not allow City Councilmembers to postpone or equivocate and are asking them take action to protect tenants against unfair evictions, high rent increases, and discrimination against voucher holders. This rally is also co-sponsored by Silicon Valley Rising, People Acting in Community Together (PACT), Silicon Valley DeBug, Law Foundation of Silicon Valley, Working Partnerships USA, and Sacred Heart Housing Action Committee.
