Detroit Filmmaker Is Looking to Stir Up the Nation With New Film!

According to Huffington Post, it is estimated that an African-American is killed by a member of the law enforcement every 28 hours. What do you think would happen if those individuals were Caucasian?

DETROIT - May 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Detroit native Edward Burney seeks to bring his new film Peterson Park to the silver screen.  Reminiscent of the 1995 film White Man’s Burden, which starred John Travolta and Harry Belafonte, Peterson Park depicts how America would be if the roles between blacks and whites were reversed.  Within the numerous depictions of racism in Peterson Park, African-American police officers will be depicted as harassing and beating Caucasian teens. Black executives will be depicted as unwilling to hire white assistants. However, don’t let these challenging depictions deter you from checking out the film. Edward says that Peterson Park has a much deeper meaning.

“It’s really a film to wake everyone up, both white and black”, says the director and father of two. “Race is a very touchy subject, and no one likes to really talk about it. But without the initial conversation nothing will ever change. I want Peterson Park to spark up a nationwide conversation. I want people to really think about how it would be if the shoe was really on the other foot.”

With all of the events that have taken place within the United States surrounding the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Gardner, as well as the horrific incidents that unfolded in Ferguson and Baltimore, the timing of Peterson Park could not be better. “The racial tension within America hasn’t been this high since the 90s. It’s that momentum that will carry Peterson Park and hopefully make it one of the greatest independent films of our generation”, says Edward.

Peterson Park is in the pre-production phase and is currently planning a crowd-funding campaign. Numerous talented individuals have already been cast for this monumental film. Including acting star Daeg Faerch. Daeg has starred in numerous films including: Rob Zombie’s Halloween, where he played a young Michael Myers. Also Hancock, which found him acting alongside Will Smith. His most recent film, Ditch Party,  just wrapped up it’s premiere screening.
