Briar Cottages owners, Fraser and Kim Proven, moved to the banks of Loch Earn seven years ago. They live in Briar Cottage the old B Listed thatched cottage on the grounds; once known as Easter Achraw. Early maps reveal farmland and cottars houses belonging to the Earl of Atholl in the 17th century before they were sold to The Earl of Breadalbane. Lochearnhead Village was not formed until after 1770. Fraser and Kim invite holiday cottage guests to see inside their restored thatched cottage to view the original cruck framed Scots pine ceiling and hear stories of past tenants and folklore.

The Provens built luxury Briar Steading cottage in 2010. The spacious detached stone cottage offers romantic views south over Loch Earn, Glenample and Edinample Castle ( once home to the Campbells of Breadalbane). The cottage sleeps 4 plus a baby in King and Twin bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Enjoy all inclusive fishing, petanque, lawn putting and the summer house in the garden on Loch Earn and ask for a shot of the hot tub on the grounds.

Visit Scotlands oldest distillery, Glenturret, 20 miles east of Briar Cottages along the A85. Take The Famous Grouse Experience tour or visit the shop to buy whisky products. There, you can order more bespoke labelled whisky bottles, browse other authentic Scottish products or eat in the Wilde Thyme restaurant.
