N. LAS VEGAS, Nev. - May 11, 2015 - PRLog -- This Memorial Day, May 25, 2015, will be a day for honoring the fallen men and women who served our country, who fought for our freedom and the freedom of those who couldn’t fight. We see the smiles, the salutes and the uniforms, but there is another side to it -- a darker side that leads our heroes down a lonely, sad path of depression.

Every day in the United States, 22 veterans commit suicide. This Memorial Day, the organization Forgotten Not Gone is trying to change that with a grand opening fundraising barbeque to celebrate their new Las Vegas location and honor our veterans, raising much needed funds so that they can continue serving those brave men and women who served our country so faithfully.

The benefit will be held at the N. Las Vegas location at 3355 Clayton Street #15 from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be food, drinks, and some of the most awesome barbeque on the planet. The goal is to serve 100 active duty soldiers and veterans with a complimentary barbeque in honor of our fallen heroes. The organization plans to have upwards of 150 people in attendance with their family members. The general public is strongly encouraged to attend – local support is vital to the success of the Forgotten Not Gone mission.

Serving those who served our country
Forgotten Not Gone, a 501 (C)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to helping save veterans and their families from the destruction of suicide. Through emotional, physical and spiritual activities sponsored by the organization, veterans are encouraged to reengage with society and brought out of the isolation that many experience once they return home.

One of the most popular tools that Forgotten Not Gone uses is a special recumbent trike. Air Force Veteran, Kelley Guidry, Founder of Forgotten Not Gone Inc., says, “We have found that physical activities and being outdoors is the best form of rehabilitation. We use the recumbent trikes as the physical tool to get our Veterans out of the isolation and depression, to help them re-integrate into their communities and engage actively in physical, social activities.”

A brighter world
Veterans are already being helped by this tremendous effort. Every day, more and more vets are getting a new lease on life, connecting with others who have had similar experiences, and finding vibrant color in a world that was once gray. “I felt alone and deserted” says Ron "The Admiral" McGee. “Then Forgotten Not Gone gave me something to look forward to and introduced me to a new set of friends that were going through some of the same issues."

For some vets, the pain and immobility from injury can cause them to feel isolated and confined. The services provided by Forgotten Not Gone, particularly the recumbent trikes, give them their mobility and independence back. Peter Guidry, co-founder of Forgotten Not Gone, Inc. is himself an Air Force veteran and has benefitted from the organizations services. "“Forgotten Not Gone trikes with electric assist allows me to get out of the house and escape the isolation that physical pains causes me to be in,” says Guidry. “I feel like I'm serving this country again, but I no longer have to be violent to do so.”

Those planning to attend the grand opening barbeque are asked to RSVP as soon as possible. Anyone who wishes to donate to this worthy cause is encouraged to visit their GoFundMe page.  at http://www.GoFundMe.com/ForgottenNotGone.
