New Director & Detroit Native Aims To Make A Racial Film Like No Other

It is estimated that an African-American is killed by a member of the law enforcement every 28 hours. What do you think would happen if those individuals were Caucasian?

DETROIT - May 8, 2015 - PRLog -- In his new film entitled Peterson Park director and Detroit native Edward Burney will look to bring a new take on racism to the silver screen. Reminiscent of the 1995 film White Man’s Burden, which starred John Travolta and Harry Belafonte, Peterson Park depicts how America would be if the roles between blacks and whites were reversed.  The film will display African-American police officers harassing and beating Caucasian teens. It will show black executives not wanting to hire white assistants and numerous other depictions of racism. However, don’t let these harsh images deter you from checking out the film, Edward says that Peterson Park has a much deeper meaning.

“It’s really a film to wake everyone up, both white and black”, says the Director and father of two. “Race is a very touchy subject, and no one likes to really talk about it. But without the initial conversation nothing will ever change. I want Peterson Park to spark up a conversation, nationwide. I want people to really think about how it would be if the shoe was really on the other foot.”

With all of the events that have taken place within the United States surrounding the deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Gardner, and the horrific incidents that unfolded in Ferguson and Baltimore, the timing of Peterson Park could not have been better. “The racial tension within America hasn’t been this high since the 90s. It’s that momentum that will carry Peterson Park and hopefully make it one of the greatest independent films of our generation”, says Edward.

Peterson Park is in the pre-production phase and currently planning a crowd-funding campaign. Numerous talented individuals have already been cast for this monumental film. For more information check out the official website, www.PetersonParkTheMovie.com
