This special event begins with a brunch at Noon in the Gables Cinema’s Perrin Plaza, followed by a live two-piano concert of the world-renowned music of Debussy, Shostakovich and Gershwin, as featured in some of the most famous film classics. The program will feature classical music and images from classic films, such as Claude Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, as heard in 1949’s “Portrait of Jennie” and George Gershwin’s Funny Face from An American in Paris, from the film by the same name. As a special welcoming in the announcement of the 2015 “Bacardi Choice” composer, Manuel Valera, the duo pianists will perform Martin Bejerano’s Fantasia de Tres Mundos for 2 Pianos, the 2014 “Bacardi Choice”. “Film Goes Classical” will present critically-acclaimed, New York-based duo pianists, Stephanie Ho and Saar Ahuvia, winners of various honors, including the New York City’s Department of Cultural Affairs Performance Grant, as well as two consecutive Performing Artist Residencies at the richly innovative Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada.
