![]() Asha Bhavan Centre Will Establish a School for Children With Special Needs in IndiaAsha Bhavan Centre is planning to come up with a new school for children with special needs in India. The school will serve 200 children in every academic session.
Aims: *To be broader than any formal schooling. *To recognize and respect the differences in children; gender, age, language, ethnicity & disability status etc. *To accept the fact that all children has the capability of learning. Enable the education systems, structures and methodologies to meet needs of all the children. *To be a dynamic process *To let themselves ensure their rights *To be part of a wider technique for promoting an inclusive society Target beneficiaries: In this project, we intend to include children having special needs i.e. children of the following categories: *Children who are mentally challenged *Children who have cerebral palsy *Children suffering from hearing loss *Children with autism spectrum disorder *Children with multiple disabilities Classroom environment: *Offer the use of study carrel when needed *Eliminate all the materials that are unnecessary from the student desk for reducing distractions *Seat student in an area that's free from any distraction *Make use of a check-list in order to help the student become a lot more organized *Allow student to go for frequent breaks *Keep extra supply of pens, pencils, paper and books in classroom *Visual distractions in classroom reduced have an agreed upon cue for student to leave classroom There are only a handful of special schools in India. Moreover, among these handful schools, only a few have resource rooms and use special educators in helping children with special needs. The Sarva Siksha Mission project that's being implemented by the Indian Government is undoubtedly a new ray of hope to children with special needs but the plan of action for integration may not serve all.
