LOS ANGELES - May 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Arts Consulting Group, Inc. (ACG), the leading provider of hands-on management consulting services to the arts and culture industry, today announced the appointment of arts administration expert Jonathan S. Miller as vice president and general manager. Mr. Miller brings more than four decades of administration and finance experience to the firm, including a long tenure as general manager of American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.) at Harvard University. Based in ACG’s Boston office, Mr. Miller will work closely with the leadership team in guiding operations and business development to support the firm’s mission of building robust arts and culture communities.

In making the announcement, ACG President Bruce D. Thibodeau said, “Throughout his career, Jonathan has amassed a wealth of nonprofit administration experience in supporting preeminent cultural organizations. As ACG continues to expand throughout North America, Jonathan’s expertise will be instrumental in providing the highest possible level of service to the ACG team and our clients.”

Most recently, Mr. Miller served as managing director of the Emerson College Office of the Arts, including ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage, an organization he helped to create with executive director Robert Orchard. Previously, Mr. Miller was general manager of the American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.) at Harvard University for close to 30 years. In this pivotal role, he worked with artistic directors Robert Brustein, Robert Woodruff, and Diane Paulus, as well as with executive director Robert Orchard. During his tenure, A.R.T. produced more than 200 works, including scores of new works by internationally-known writers and directors, which toured to 81 U.S. cities in 22 states and worldwide in 21 cities in 16 countries on four continents.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Miller served as associate dean of the Yale School of Drama, working first under Dean Robert Brustein, and then helping to guide the transition to Dean Lloyd Richards. In addition, he served as assistant professor in Technical Design and Production.

Mr. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Harvard University and a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Engineering from the Yale School of Drama. After graduate school, as a participant in the Luce Scholars Program of the Henry Luce Foundation, he was a visiting fellow at the Hoso Bunka Foundation of NHK in Tokyo, Japan, where he studied modern and traditional Japanese stages and performing arts. Since that time, he has lent his expertise to the Luce Foundation for its annual interview process in the selection of future scholars.
