28th Annual Maine Tech Summit and Tradeshow May 28th in Portland, hosted by MTUG
Maine Technology Users Group hosts state's largest technology conference, the 28th Annual Information Technology Summit and Tradeshow, Thursday, May 28th, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, Maine. Event features 15 workshops led by Maine IT leaders, a sold out tradeshow of 59 exhibit booths, and keynote on cybersecurity.
This year's Keynote Speaker is Rear Admiral (Ret.) William E. Leigher, now the Advanced Solutions Director, Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS), at Raytheon Company. In his address, "Insecurity in a Connected Planet," Admiral Leigher will explore the ubiquity of computer processors in our everyday activities, the risks inherent to non-IT cyber systems, and present ways to address the risk to life and property.
The event features 15 workshops and demonstrations across 5 tracks: Great IT Debates, IT Infrastructure, IT Workforce Development, Security, and “Tech Sandbox” (hands-on technology demonstrations)
The exhibit hall of almost 60 vendor booths will be open all day, with IT and telecom infrastructure and services vendors from Maine and across the nation.
The expected 500 attendees will include IT and telecom professionals and senior business and operations managers from Maine and New Hampshire, representing all sectors and industries, including government, finance, education, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, nonprofit organizations and more. With three food events around sessions, there will be plenty of time to network, share ideas, and ask questions of presenters and vendors.
The Fourth Annual Maine Technology Users Group Scholarships, awarded jointly with business partners FairPoint Communications, Lincolnville Communications, Norway Savings Bank, and GWI, will be announced at the Summit lunch. The scholarships will be managed by the University of Maine Foundation, and will benefit Maine graduates studying in IT fields at a University of Maine System campus.
Registration fee is $45 “Early Bird” through May 7, $50 advance purchase (after May 7), and $60 at the door. Student discount available. Fee includes continental breakfast, buffet lunch, keynote, workshops, exhibit hall access and afternoon refreshments. To receive updates via Twitter, follow @MTUG_Maine and search for #MTUG2015.
