Sissy tells a West Side Story tonight with filmmaker Paz Fabrega on The Sissy Gamache Show!

NEW YORK - May 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Paz Fabrega studied Communications at the University of Costa Rica and Photography at the Colegio Universitario de Alajuela.

In December 2005, she earned an MA at the London Film School.  Her graduation film, Temporal, shot in a rural village in Costa Rica, has been in competition at many festivals including Clermont Ferrand and Tampere, and received the Grand Prix in Biarritz Film Festival.

She was selected for the scriptwriting residency programme at the Binger Filmlab, where she wrote the script for her first feature film; Agua fría de mar. The project went on to win the ARTE prize at the Buenos Aires Lab, and to receive support from the Hubert Bals Fund, Cinergia, the Torino Film Fund, Ibermedia, Fondation GAN and the regional fund of Ile-de-France. It was also a finalist for the Sundance NHK Award and in San Sebastián’s Cine en Construcción.

In 2006 she established a production company in Costa Rica; Temporal films.

During the development of Agua fría de mar, she shot another short film; Cuilos, which won four awards at the Icaro Film Festival in Guatemala.

Agua fría de mar premiered in January 2010 at the Rotterdam Film Festival, where it won the Tiger Award. It has been screened at more than 40 international film festivals, and received prizes in Lima, London and Paris. It was released commercially in France and in Costa Rica.

Paz currently lives in San José, Costa Rica.
