Indonesia Sits at Number 74 for the Happiest Countries in the World

JEPARA, Indonesia - April 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Kompas.Com reports that in the world happiness index released by Network Solutions Sustainable Development (SDSN), Indonesia sits at number 74. Meanwhile, Switzerland is the happiest country in the world this year.

Switzerland, known as the land of origin of watches and chocolate, is followed by Denmark, Norway, and Canada to be the top five happiest countries in the world.

Indexing is based on Gallup poll data and a number of variables, such as real gross domestic product per capita, average life expectancy, level of corruption, and social freedom.

This happiness index may be important because it can be seen as an appropriate way to measure social progress and fulfillment of public policy. This survey can be used by national and local governments in the policymaking process allowing people to live better.

The only Southeast Asian country in top 30 is Singapore, ranked 24th. Other Asian countries included in the top 30 of the happiest countries in the world arethe United Arab Emirates (20th) and Qatar (28th).
