Line’s victory was his fourth career Winternationals win and his 36th career Pro Stock title.
“What a thrilling way for Jason Line to open the NHRA season,” said Norm Young, president and CEO, WELD. “We want to congratulate him on making it to the winner’s circle. Our kudos also go out to Drew Skillman for making the final at his NHRA Pro Stock race. That is quite an accomplishment for a rookie driver.”
In Funny Car, Courtney Force was the number one qualifier with WELD Racing wheels onboard. Force went out in the second round, finishing sixth overall. Robert Hight from John Force Racing, who also utilizes WELD Racing wheels, went all the way to the semifinals before he was defeated. Hight finished fourth overall.
In the Top Fuel category it was a disappointing event for drivers Clay Millican and Brittany Force. Both drivers, who use WELD Racing wheels, showed promise in qualifying but were eliminated in their opening heats.
The next event on the 24-race NHRA nationwide schedule is the CARQUEST Auto Parts Nationals to be held February 20-22 in Chandler, Ariz.
