European Union Delegation to organize Media seminar #DIGILOGUE2015 on 27 April

DELHI, India - April 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The Delegation of the European Union to India is organizing a media seminar #DIGILOGUE2015 - on 'Digital and Social Media in Democratic Societies: Sharing Experiences from the EU and India' on 27 April at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.  The objective of the seminar is to engage with key stakeholders including journalists and media persons on the emerging importance of digital and social media and their role in reshaping the world we live in, sharing experiences from the EU and India.

The seminar will include a Panel Discussion on “What can public institutions, civil societies, media and corporate learn from each other's experiences in the area of digital and social media.” Speakers would include David Tunney - Head of Social Media, European External Action Service, Brussels, Chinmayi Arun - Centre for Communication Governance, National Law University, Nikhil Pahwa – Medianama, T V Ramachandran – Vodafone, Volker Pabst – NZZ (Swiss Newspaper) and will be moderated by Pranjal Sharma - Columnist, BusinessWorld.

Issues related to internet policy, journalism in the age of digital and social media, new media versus old media and examples of successful use of digital and social media by experts and activists will be discussed in the course of technical and interactive sessions.

David Tunney who has been instrumental in drafting and implementing the Social Media / Digital Diplomacy Strategy for the European External Action Service will discuss how the EEAS has been leveraging digital and social media in its internal and external communications. Osama Manzar, Founder, Digital Empowerment Foundation, will share his experience on ‘Using digital and social media for social development and economic progress.’

The seminar will facilitate the exchange of opinions and expertise regarding how digital and social media can bring about social change and economic progress. On the other hand, participants will get an opportunity to exchange views on communication strategies with the renowned experts.

The seminar will be held on Monday 27 April from 2.00 to 5.00 pm at Jacaranda II, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
