CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. - April 22, 2015 - PRLog -- In one of the historic moves, a bill was passed by the Senate by a vote of 92-8 to repeal Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) for physician reimbursement under Medicare. The bill has replaced the participation of the physicians in the Value based payment program with a Merit based payment system. This would mean an increase of 0.5% in reimbursement from July 2015 to December 2015 followed by an annual increase of 0.5% till 2019. The passing of this bill, popularly known as "Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015" has been praised by both sides of the Senate.

The bill is also extended to fund various community health centers and National Health Service Corps as well as for the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

There wasn’t any reference regarding ICD-10 delay. Fingers are crossed for Oct 1, 2015 as the ICD-10 implementation had already been delayed thrice in the past 6 years discouraging everyone who were eagerly waiting to see it in action.

Bristol Healthcare Services, a premier medical billing company has already started working towards the transition to ICD-10. Implementation of ICD-10 will be a breakthrough and bring innovation to the manner in which the coding and documentation are done.
