PHOENIX - April 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Phoenix, Arizona dental practice, Central Dental Care, will now be offering Botox treatments to patients. A Dentist administering Botox you ask? In dental school, Dental Students take courses in head and neck anatomy and are taught how to administer anesthesia. They have more training in the oral and maxillofacial areas (that means the face from chin to forehead) than just about any other healthcare professional who is now allowed to deliver Botox to patients.

Botox, which is also known as Botulinum toxin (BTX), is a drug (a form of neurotoxic protein) produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and other related species. Botox injections work by paralyzing, weakening, or immobilizing certain muscles. Moreover, it can also act as a blocking agent on certain nerves. The effects of BTX may last from 3 to 12 months.

The current belief among Americans is that Botox procedures are mostly delivered in a "Specialist's" office, like a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. When in fact the vast majority of treatments are delivered by OB/GYN’s, Ophthalmologists, Gastroenterologists, Internists, Registered Nurses, Medical Estheticians or Physicians’ Assistants. With their advanced training and daily focus on the facial area, Dentists are the true specialists in the area of the face, much more so than most other healthcare personnel.

Dr, Mark Espinoza, of Central Dental Care, says, ”The face and certainly the lower face is where we Dentists focus and work every single day. Once a Dentist is properly trained in Botox and other dermal filler therapy, they will be able to complete a much better cosmetic and dental result for their patients than most other medical practitioners. When folks are happy with their appearance they will smile more."

So now, with the bridges, fillings, veneers and implants, Dr. Espinoza will be offering Botox treatment. He already injects in the same areas where Botox and dermal fillers are injected for cosmetic results. Being a Dentist, he is already skilled in the proper ratios of lips to teeth, smile considerations, proper phonetics and how the teeth relate to the soft tissue surrounding the mouth.

Dr. Espinoza says, " I want my patients to be able to smile, and feel good doing it. However, as people get older, the corners of the mouth begin to turn down. It is possible to inject Botox to relax those muscles, which then results in the corners turning up revealing a more youthful smile. Botox is also useful for those who lost their original teeth and have to rely on dentures to do the work. Botox eases the transition and acceptance of the dentures."

Botox and dermal fillers are as essential to esthetic dentistry cases as are porcelain veneers and composite resins. In the past, Dentists may have given the patient beautiful teeth but not a beautiful smile. With Botox, Central Dental Care now has the treatment to make the mouth look as good as the teeth for complete smile makeover and esthetic treatment.
