2nd TCC Community Empowerment Gala Will Be Held On April 23rd

By: The Corridor Counts

CARLE PLACE, N.Y. - April 21, 2015 - PRLog -- The Corridor Counts (TCC) is a collective of community advocates, teachers, laborers, public servants, youth advocates, anti-violence advocates, professionals from all areas of service, and other community members. We have joined together “to evaluate what is most needed by the communities in the Corridor and then take actions which are consistent with what is in the best interest of those communities. Our focus is to lead by bringing about change to meet the identified needs.” We come together to address the many issues that exist in the several communities in Nassau County that make up The Corridor. Included in these communities are Hempstead, Roosevelt, Uniondale, Freeport, Lakeview, Westbury-New Cassel and connected communities.

Our Second Annual TCC Community Empowerment Gala, which is certain to be high-energy and a happening, will be held on April 23, 2015 at Chateau Briand, 440 Old Country Road, Carle Place, New York at 6:30 with dinner at 7:30 p.m. Last year, this event was a wonderful success and we look forward to your support for this year’s event.

To continue this work and help other aspects of The Corridor, we need your help. We want to make sure that the public in the New York region know of the work in which we are engaged and help us assure continued success for TCC, Inc. and the communities we seek to serve.

We are excited that this year we will be paying tribute to four individuals:

● The Honorable Councilwoman Dorothy Goosby, Councilwoman Town of Hempstead

● Michele Lynch, 1199 SEIU Political Director for Long Island

● Elias Mestizo, President of Hempstead Classroom Teachers Association

● Al Forde (posthumously) Entrepreneur, TCC Founding Participant and Creator of the current TCC Logo

Of special note are our two (2) Special Guests:

● Ms. Melba Moore, Singer, Actress and Entertainer

● Mr. Julius Freeman, Tuskegee Airman

The Corridor Counts, Inc. has engaged in meaningful projects with successful results for the communities it services in Nassau County, projects such successfully those listed below:

● Joining with other community based groups to hold community educational forums about the need for change in the Hempstead School District.

● Spearheading the running of two school board campaigns that led to the election of two new, exciting and fresh faces on to the beleaguered Hempstead School Board.

● Successfully mounted a legal challenge before the New York State Commissioner of Education to have an election which was fraught with scandal and fraud declared null and void and order a new election.

Come and join us and our honored guests on April 23, 2015 as we will celebrate the work we do and the work yet to be done!
