'My Local Guru' Free App Is Launched By Cheshire-based IT Entrepreneurs

NANTWICH, U.K. - April 21, 2015 - PRLog -- CHESHIRE-based mobile technology entrepreneurs Ian and Amanda Birchall have launched a new and entirely free breakthrough mobile app designed to connect residents and visitors to local information, events and businesses.

Called My Local Guru, the new app gathers information from global sources and enhances it with detailed information from local people to create a ‘must-have’ guide to available services, shops, clubs, events and communities.

“Our aim is to build a network of local communities utilising My Local Guru to keep it local,” explained 56 years old Ian, a former IT industry high-flyer who took a break from an international technology career to work on his innovative-app project with the help of wife Amanda, also a former IT professional.

“As a community comes on-board we ensure that they have a bespoke home page with links to lots of local information,” added Ian, speaking from his home in Nantwich. “We also optimize any searches to keep the results as local as possible. In addition, we have the ability to promote local events via free messaging alerts.

“Naturally our home town of Nantwich was the first town in Cheshire to have its own ‘My Local Guru’ home page but now many more communities across the country have their own. So anybody downloading the free app will be in for a treat wherever they are, thanks to the range of local information contributed by the growing number of My Local Guru local partners,” he added.

Downloading the app gives the user instant access to detailed information about local services, medical facilities, real-time travel details, local shops, restaurants and cafes with food hygiene ratings and local entertainment in addition to places to visit as well as an insight into local knowledge.

The take-up of the My Local Guru app is growing steadily according to Ian, who said latest figures showed that it was already being used in 67 countries across the globe.

“The arrival of the new free mobile app offers local businesses a much-appreciated post-Recession boost, and by working with us they can ensure that they, their promotions and their events are visible at all times to visitors and residents, thus encouraging local communities to buy local,” added Ian.

Although it was launched in March, My Local Guru is currently looking at arranging a local celebrity launch later in the year.

Ian added: “We are convinced the My Local Guru app will be a boon for all. It’s free, it’s local…..and it’s here!”
