Back for its 7th Season, Dranoff 2 Piano and the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts present PIANO SLAM 7 - a Classical/Hip-Hop/Spoken Word mash up featuring internationally acclaimed pianists duo imPuls mixing up Bach, Brahms, Bejerano and Bruno Mars with the beats of DJ Brimstone 127 and the debut works of Miami's hot young poets.  A FREE Concert directed by Teo Castellanos.

PIANO SLAM, the Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation annual performance of piano music, spoken word, dance and hip hop, will take place on Thursday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m., at the Knight Concert Hall of the Adrienne Arsht Center, located at 1300 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33132 U.S.A. PIANO SLAM is a competition that combines the Dranoff 2 Piano Foundation’s award-winning pianists, dancers, renowned poets and spoken word artists, in collaboration with middle and high school students throughout Miami-Dade County.

This year’s piano duo will be 2013 Dranoff Competition winners from Germany Barbara and and Sebastian Bartmann. Actor/writer/director Teo Castellanos directs PIANO SLAM 7, which also features DJ Brimstone 127, the Biscayne Poet Oscar Fuentes, the steps of Hattie Mae Williams, and Miami’s Best Young Poets.   PIANO SLAM 7 enjoys the warm and enthusiastic support of the Miami HEAT, whose players read favorite poems for students in M-DCPS. PIANO SLAM 7 will partner with O, Miami to cap off National Poetry Month.

Prior to the April 30^th Arsht Center PIANO SLAM 7 performance, live Dranoff classical duo piano artists were in concert at multiple Miami-Dade County Public Schools after which students are invited to write poetry about music and then create a spoken word experience for a county-wide competition. On April 30^th, Student poetry winners will present their own poetry in a Classical/Hip Hop/Spoken Word extravaganza concert in the Knight Concert Hall at the Arsht. Student winners receive cash prizes and are eligible to win laptop computers.
