Dermatology Associates of INDY offers FREE Skin Cancer Screenings for Skin Cancer Awareness Month

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - April 19, 2015 - PRLog -- As a way to raise awareness of melanoma and other types of skin cancer and to encourage early detection through self-exams, the American Academy of Dermatology designates the first Monday in May as Melanoma Monday. This year Melanoma Monday falls on May 4.

Dermatology Associates of INDY supports American Academy of Dermatology’s nationwide efforts to raise awareness of skin cancer and will offer the community free skin cancer screenings at their office on Melanoma Monday and throughout the month of May.  The practice is conveniently located at 1212 Professional Blvd, between Washington Avenue and Covert Avenue.

"According to the American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States and current estimates are that one in five Americans will be diagnosed with skin cancer in their lifetime," said Robert E. Nevin, "In fact, Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and is the most common form of cancer for 25-29 year olds."

In an effort to improve these numbers Dermatology Associates of INDY is offering free skin cancer examinations and encourages everyone to regularly perform self-exams and schedule yearly skin exams.
