The 2015 Ram 3500 Earns a Gold Hitch Award

In order to rank the pickup trucks, the editors at The Fast Lane Truck took the vehicles through the now notorious Eisenhower Pass—or as they call it, the “Ike Gauntlet”— outside Denver carrying a trailer that held a 21,600 pound payload. By reaching elevations of as much as 11,000 feet, they were able to push trucks to their limits, and the Ram 3500 left its competition in the dust.

While it's not the sole criterion to determine a winner, the Ike Gauntlet represents a way to test most trucks in their extremes of operation. The only models that were eligible for the Gold Hitch Award were 2015 model years or vehicles that had received significant changes for 2015.
