NAPERVILLE, Ill. - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- While school is off for summer, students can lose as much as 25 percent in reading skills and 2.6 months in math computational skills.

For those children still struggling with reading, math facts or attention, summer can mean a further drop. The decrease in learning is called the summer slide and research shows it is experienced by most students.

To learn about the summer slide and what parents can do, Mia Tischer, executive director of LearningRx Chicago-Naperville is offering a morning coffee seminar. She will offer tips to beat the summer slide, explain how children's brains work to learn and process new information and explain the difference between tutoring and brain training. She will also raffle off a "Summer Slide Toy Box,." For those who attend the seminar, a discount will be given on assessments.
