Apogee’s chosen Charity for 2015 – Global’s Make Some Noise to Change Young Lives

We are delighted to announce that Apogee’s Charity of choice for 2015 will be Global’s Make Some Noise to Change Young Lives. An excellent opportunity for all at Apogee to raise money for an excellent cause – and have a lot of fun doing so.

LONDON - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Global, the Media & Entertainment company, which is home to Heart, Capital FM, Classic FM, Smooth, LBC, Capital Xtra, XFM and Gold, has pulled together all its stations, reaching a combined 23.2 million people every week, to unite behind one cause.

Make Some Noise to Change Young Lives will help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. These youngsters may be affected by illness, disability, bereavement or lack of opportunity. The aim is to ensure that every child and teenager reaches their full potential. Global will use the power of radio to MAKE SOME NOISE for those who struggle to be heard. They award grants to specially selected projects across the country that are changing young lives. Projects close to the hearts of listeners and the communities in which they live.

During 2015, through to April 2016 we want to raise as much money as we can for this great cause. We will be announcing further challenges and charity events over the coming weeks. For Global’s Make Some Noise, let’s make Apogee the loudest!

Already confirmed as Charity Events for 2015 are:

- The Great River Race – An Apogee Team will aim to win the Cutter Category and the Over 28s category this year, aiming to improve on last year’s close result.
- The Nuts Challenge – We would like to get as many Apogee employees taking part in this activity as possible, following our involvement last year.
- Keith Williams will be taking on 3 triathlons this year in support of the Apogee Charity. The Slateman Savage, Marlow and Sandman Triathlons.

More about Make Some Noise and the fantastic projects supported by our 2015 Charity:

Over 40 years of grant making experience is used to seek out projects that are delivering life-changing work in their communities. Many of these projects struggle to build awareness or raise funds, but have a huge impact on young lives.

Global have approved 103 projects for 2014/15. These include a charity supporting teenagers with cancer in Glasgow, a young carers project in Barnet, a bereavement charity in Berkshire, the children’s hospital in Newcastle, a centre for stammering children, an activity club for disabled children in Bedfordshire, a sport project for youngsters with cerebral palsy in Nottingham, a Downs Syndrome group in Swindon, a music therapy project in Milton Keynes, a special school in Devon, a Suffolk project specializing in emotional and mental health problems, a centre for care leavers in Kent and many many more.

Alongside these, Global has a partnership with Together for Short Lives and will support 36 children’s hospices across the UK. There is currently no statutory funding for children’s hospice care.

Why they need our help:

- It costs 3 times as much to raise a disabled child in the UK; so external support and respite care for exhausted mums and dads can make all the difference.
- There are 3.6 million children living in poverty in the UK today.
- There are an estimated 49,000 children and young people in the UK living with a life-threatening or life-limiting conditions. Children’s hospices provide a vital support network to these children and their families.
- Each year over 24,000 children in the UK are bereaved of a parent.
- There are 955,000 young people (aged from 16 to 24) in the UK who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). Young people who just need the right opportunities to change their lives.
