Follow on Google News | Sign-Ups Underway For YMCA Summer Resident CampsThe YMCAs serving the Conejo Valley, Simi Valley and Moorpark are now registering kids for their summer resident camps taking place throughout California.
By: Conej Valley YMCA The Conejo Valley YMCA is hosting a weeklong camp at Camp Sequoia Lake near Sequoia National Park from August 1 through August 8. Campers entering grades fourth through 12 will be active from sunrise to sunset experiencing a high rope course, climbing wall, adventure courses, canoeing, fishing, lake swimming, archery, rock climbing and arts and crafts. Plus, campers will take part in traditional YMCA camp activities--campfires, dances, slideshows and the Rag & Leather motivational and rewards program. The cost is $670. The Simi Valley Family YMCA's resident camp for kids entering grades fourth through 12 will be at Camp Oakes in Big Bear June 27 through July 3. Activities include high and low ropes courses, dances, arts and crafts, nature hikes, climbing wall, disc golf, canoeing, volleyball, riflery, field games, archery, campfires, horseshoes, swimming and a night observatory. The cost is $440 for Y members and $450 for nonmembers. For more information, contact the Simi Y at 805-583-5338, ext. 234. The Y is one of the largest and oldest providers of camp programs. YMCA resident camps introduce campers to new outdoor adventures, provide stimulating activities that engage the body and mind, instill new skills and confidence while making new friendships and life-long memories.
