Citra Case Study Shows Care Venue Setting Program Cut Emergency Department Claims by Nearly 25%

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- A case study was released today at HIMSS that detailed the outcome of a program targeting Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) using Citra’s proprietary Care Venue Setting Program, resulting in a reduction of emergency department claims by 24%.

Citra developed the program with the objective to redirect non-urgent and non-emergent patients from the emergency department to more appropriate sites of care, which include primary care facilities, as well as urgent care facilities. Emergency rooms are operating at full capacity, not able to concentrate on the true emergency issues due to frequent utilization as a community “safety net” for wellness.

The case study participants were able to analyze Citra-provided data for frequent emergency room patients and educate them on alternative options, as well as their primary care physician’s after-hours protocol and weekend hours. Results included not only the 24% decrease in emergency claims, but also 900 patients were effectively given informative personal attention resulting in improved overall relationships with their primary care offices.
