Able Moving & Storage, Inc. Raises its Starting Wage to New Levels

MANASSAS, Va. - April 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Manassas, VA – Locally owned and operated Able Moving and Storage, Inc., announced today that it will raise its already high minimum wage, effective June 1, 2015. Company officials are expected to meet later this month to discuss the implementation of these adjustments to their generous employee benefits and retirement packages.

Able’s wages and benefit packages have always been at the highest levels within the moving and storage industry. But in 2015, with all of the talk about the increase in minimum wage in the press, and because of Able’s recent growth to their customer/client base, Able is increasing its starting wages further. This is being done when many other moving companies are not raising their workers hourly rates. “We simply cannot afford not to take care of our skilled employees,” says Joe Singleton, President and co-Founder of Able Moving. “These are our representatives who are in our customers’ homes and offices everyday. We have a tremendous amount invested in our staff -- through the lengthy tenure of our employees, the ongoing training, and the developments in which we continuously invest, our company spends a lot of money internally on our employees. We are invested in them, and they in us. Combine that with a benefits package uncommon in the industry, and we have employees who choose to make this job a career – something very uncommon in the industry. Raising our minimum wages is another investment that Able Moving can make to increase employee morale and dedication, resulting in the best possible experience for out clientele.”

Able’s entry level position for people who physically assist with moves is the position of “helper.” The minimum hourly rate is being increased 20%, from $10 per hour to $12 per hour, by June 1^st of this year. Joe Singleton tasked himself, and his management team in October of 2014 with a Top 10 list of solutions to ensure his customers were protected with high service level standards, and his employees were working for a moving company they were dedicated to even under the toughest of circumstances. “We are only as good as our weakest link,” said Singleton to his team. “After a meeting this week, we have decided that raising our minimum wage is important to both the employees and our company, and we want to roll this out in time for the peak season.”
