SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - April 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Dr. Todd W. Austin, D.C. and his wife Eugena B. Austin, L.M.T. of Austin Family Chiropractic in Virden,IL recently attended a weekend seminar in Indianapolis, IN sponsored by the Professional Football Chiropractic Society.  The seminar took place 5 blocks away from Lucas Oil Stadium where the NFL Scouting Combine was being held.  Both Dr. Todd & Eugena were vendors at a booth representing their new Biomat Therapy business.

Dr. Todd first used Biomat Therapy to recover from a July 2013 surgery in half the time his surgeon told him it would take.  Eugena aka gluten-free blogger GlutenFreeGena started utilizing Far Infrared Therapy the following month as part of her weight loss journey.  She has lost 81 pounds thus far.

The Austins first implemented far infrared thermotherapy into their clinic's offerings in their central IL holistic health and wellness clinic in March 2014. They've since helped nearly 400 central Illinoisans with this amazing technology in just over a year.  In October 2014 they began their Biomat Therapy sales and consulting business where they sell Biomat Therapy devices to other holistic healthcare providers and train them on successfully implementing the LIGHT therapy technology into their clinics.  Dr. Todd states "Although the Biomats are FDA cleared and registered as a 'heat therapy device', we've found them to most useful for mild to moderate reducing pain and inflammation, helping to relieve stress & speeding up recovery from chronic injuries, acute injuries and surgeries among other things.  For the most part, our patients now experience quicker pain relief and thus many require fewer visits in our clinic to get the results they're after."  Eugena, who is also the clinic's office manager, went on to say that "We've found Biomat Therapy to be a perfect compliment to chiropractic, massage therapy, acupuncture and cold laser therapy."

Dr. Todd & Eugena are currently training 18 other holistic healthcare clinics (mainly chiropractors) on Far Infrared Therapy in 11 states including: AL, GA, IA, ID, IL, MO, NH, NJ, OH, TN and UT.  For more info, please visit their Biomat informational website at: https://drtoddaustin.thebiomatcompany.com/site/ .

Several topics were covered at the PFCS weekend seminar including sports injuries, sports nutrition, extremity adjustments for the wrists, elbows, shoulders, ankles, knees and hips and sports psychology.

Special guest presenters at the event included Dr. Mark Charette.  Dr. Charette used to be former Cardinal's slugger Mark McGwire's chiropractor back when Big Mac's Oakland A's were one of Major League Baseball's elite teams. Charette actually taught Dr. Todd how to excel at chiropractic extremity adjustments back in the late 1990's.

All 32 NFL teams have at least one official team Doctor of Chiropractic.  There are currently a total of 38 NFL team D.C.'s, since some teams have two official team chiropractors.  According to Dr. Spencer Baron, team D.C. for the Miami Dolphins, NFL players received nearly 30,000 chiropractic adjustments during the 2014 regular season alone!  Approximately 20 of the official Doctors of Chiropractic who provide chiropractic care to NFL football players were in attendance at the event.   The PFCS’s ultimate goal is to have every football team in the US (from the NFL down through all high schools) cared for by a sideline Doctor of Chiropractic.  Dr. Todd and Eugena were super excited to have 4 time Superbowl Champion Dr. Mike Miller, Chiropractor for the New England Patriots stop by their booth.  Dr. Miller even let Eugena wear one of his SuperBowl rings!

Dr. Austin joined the PFCS, thus becoming an ‘Associate Member’ in 2011. Austin has been serving both as the team Chiropractic Physician and as the team Cold Laser Therapist for the semi-pro Springfield Foxes of the GMFL (Great Midwest Football League) since the summer of 2011.  Dr. Todd’s wife, Eugena B. Austin, L.M.T., has also been the team's Licensed Massage Therapist since that time as well.  The Foxes will  be playing their home games once again on Saturday nights in Springfield, IL at Sacred Heart Griffin High School Stadium from May 23rd through August 8th, 2015.  For more Springfield Foxes info, go to:  http://www.SpringfieldFoxesChiro.com

Dr. Austin provides both spine and extremity adjusting for the entire family.  He also runs the only full service cold laser therapy clinic in this part of Central IL.
