Pope Francis: Where Is He Taking The Catholic Church? And Will He Get There?

Noted scholar to give presentation at Voice of the Faithful New Jersey
 
MORRISTOWN, N.J. - April 10, 2015 - PRLog -- At 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 100 Harter Road, Morristown, NJ, Voice of the Faithful New Jersey will present Dr. Christopher Bellitto speaking on Pope Francis, Where Is He Taking The Catholic Church? And Will He Get There?  A liturgy at 4:00 PM will precede Dr. Bellitto’s talk.

In an effort to keep up with a fast-paced papacy in these tumultuous times, Dr. Bellitto will address such questions as:

• Who is Pope Francis?

• Why is everyone (not just Catholics) paying attention to the first Latin American and first Jesuit pope in history?

• How is he trying to change the church?

• And what are people saying in support, or even opposition?

Christopher M. Bellitto, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of History at Kean University in Union, NJ, and the former chair of Kean's History Department.  A frequent public speaker and media commentator on church history and contemporary Catholicism, he has been quoted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, et al, and has appeared on The History Channel, CNN, MSNBC, PBS' News Hour, NPR, and other local radio and TV stations.  He received an M.A. and a Ph.D. in History from Fordham University.  His B.A., magna cum laude, is from New York University where he was a University Scholar with a double major in Journalism and Politics, and a double minor in Classics and Religion.  Dr. Bellitto, the author of nine books, has also taped a series of audio and video courses on Christianity and ancient, medieval, and reformation history for Now You Know Media.
