WALLINGTON, U.K. - April 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Dianna Hardy, who currently lives in Wallington, Surrey, began writing and publishing in December 2010. After four-and-a-half years, she hasn't looked back, with over 20,000 eBooks sold to date and her titles reaching the top twenty within their categories, of Kindle and iBooks charts around the world (including a number 1 spot) earning her an "international bestselling author" status.

With fifteen published works under her belt – consisting of short stories to full-length novels, and everything from contemporary romance to dark, erotic, urban fantasy – she attributes her success to a mixture of entering the independent publishing industry at the right time, gritty hard work, invaluable book bloggers and fans, and never giving up.

"I started writing soon after giving birth as I wondered what to do with my long nights feeding my daughter. I've always had a huge love of writing, having tried to publish poetry back in the 90s, so I looked up self-publishing online in 2010 and bingo! I discovered it was a hundred times easier than it used to be two decades ago.

"Self-publishing was, in many ways, unchartered territory in 2010. Nowadays, it's a bit dog-eat-dog with so many people doing it, and it has become harder to get seen. But I think the key is to remember why you started writing in the first place. For me, it was and always has been because I love to write and share my crazy stories with readers. The fact that I can make a living out of it is a huge bonus that has made writing and publishing easier to accomplish on a year-by-year basis, but it's not the fuel that drives me. I think, because of that, I didn't stop writing, even when we had hard months where I considered packing it in and getting a 'proper' job.

"There are days you hardly ever see anyone because you have to write the last twenty-thousand words to meet your self-imposed deadline, and I'm very lucky to have a supportive family where my career is concerned. I don't know where I'd be without them."

So ... is she the next E.L. James?

"I really don't think so, despite the heat levels of some of my books! E.L. James has done spectacularly well for herself. I liked her books, but I would love to see some very unique, exciting stories from independent authors emerge as bestsellers across a range of genres. As authors, we have the whole world at our fingertips now. We can offer such a variety to readers, and as readers, we can really expand on our literature. That's the most wonderful thing to come out of self-publishing, and I hope it continues."
