Follow on Google News | Cultural Vistas to Welcome U.K. Muslim Student Leaders for Professional Exchange ProgramTwo-week visit to cultivate leadership and profile diversity of the United States
By: Cultural Vistas Link to final press release: http://culturalvistas.org/ The two-week program, which begins Saturday, April 11, will focus on how community organizations, educational institutions, private groups, and government agencies cultivate leadership and empower young Muslims in America to promote positive change. This initiative is sponsored by the Embassy of the United States in London. Cultural Vistas has designed and will administer the program, with staff traveling with the group for the program's duration. The program aims to provide an experience that profiles the diversity of the United States, its system of government, its for-profit and nonprofit sectors, and its education system. It includes examples of our culture of volunteerism, optimism, and the many ways in which we practice and show our faiths. Specifically, the itinerary will illuminate what it means to be Muslim in the United States, including expunging misconceptions about daily life. Participants will engage with peers through interfaith dialogue sessions and complete workshops to further their leadership skills. The two weeks of programming will begin in Washington, D.C. and continue to Baltimore, San Francisco, and Chicago. There, the student leaders will meet and engage with a variety of organizations and leaders from the Muslim faith and various walks of life, including the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, UMBC Muslim Student Association, Wesley Seminary, THREAD Baltimore, University of California Berkeley, Zaytuna College, Interfaith Youth Corps, Ta’leef Collective and CAIR-Chicago. Cultural Vistas endeavors to strengthen global cooperation and build mutual understanding through its varied special initiatives and short-term exchange programs. In January, Cultural Vistas welcomed a group of nine U.K. community leaders for a similar Embassy-sponsored initiative. This and other short-term programs will cover a range of themes including consumer protection, entrepreneurship, innovation, clean energy, and climate issues. About Cultural Vistas A nonprofit organization, Cultural Vistas annually serves more than 5,000 students, professionals and emerging leaders through career-focused international internships, educational study tours, language immersion and cultural exchange programs in the United States and countries around the world. – Learn more at http://www.culturalvistas.org Follow @CulturalVistas on Twitter End
