Wilshire Controversially Offers a Guarantee to Gain Students Admission into Top Colleges

By: Wilshire Admissions Consulting
SAN FRANCISCO - April 4, 2015 - PRLog -- Wilshire Admissions Consulting, a college application counseling company that, according to its website, has helped hundreds of students gain admission into college, is now offering a package that guarantees a student admission into one of his top three colleges, or his money back. And over the past few months, what began as an added service, has now landed Wilshire a national spotlight.

Over the past ten years, the acceptance rates at many elite American universities have been drastically declining. And just this past week, Stanford announced another all-time low of merely 5.1% of its applicants who gained admission. This influx of competition has led many families to resort to hiring private tutors to help prepare for the process.

Tutoring for your college admissions is nothing new. However, Wilshire has separated itself from the rest by focusing its attention on students applying for elite universities, and for offering controversial services, like its guaranteed package.  While many students and parents have thanked Wilshire for their services, others have vocalized that Wilshire may be pushing the envelope when it comes to giving students a competitive edge. When pressed about the controversy, Anastas Gueordjev, a consultant at Wilshire, said “it is our job to help position students in the best way possible. The fact that we do a better job at it than others doesn’t mean that we should be in the spotlight.” Gueordjev may have a point, since students all over the nation are using college admissions counselors to give them an edge, but how much edge is too far? Posted on the Wilshire website is the statement “we don’t believe in a polite, politically correct approach to college admissions. Only the cold, hard truth: college admissions are a game that can be won if you know how to play.” Some have complained that college applications should not be about how well you can work the system, but rather an honest reflection of your academics and past experience

For more information, you can visit Wilshire at their website, or visit them at their San Francisco Bay Area Headquarters.
