Boutique Publishing Company, The Reader’s Guild, Announces Management Appointments and New Hires
Megan Tarter will be serving as Executive Vice President of Operations, managing day-to-day operations in support of the growth and development of The Reader’s Guild and focusing on strategic planning of the company’s goals.
“It is a unique pleasure to be working with my father in this exciting new publishing venture,” said Megan. “My family truly has a passion for the written word and we cannot wait to bring both emerging writers and classic titles to our one-of-a-kind anthology program.”
Prior to joining The Reader’s Guild, Megan served in leadership roles for several subsidiary companies of The Reader’s Guild’s parent group, The Lakeside Group of Companies. She co-produced The Lakeside Group’s Cinema Events programs, including two self-improvement speaker series with Wayne Dyer and Suzanne Somers and a concert series featuring the band Green Day. Also serving as president of The Rainbow Group, Megan manages and distributes classic film titles such as Sounder, Misty, Mary White and A Dog Of Flanders. These timeless films have been shown in over 50 countries and air consistently on premier outlets. Megan’
Megan’s previous experience includes time at iWonder Productions, docFest and the New York Documentary Center. She earned her B.A. in Film at Emerson College in Boston and now calls the East Village home with her partner, Tom, and son, Linus.
In addition, Karin Glaizer has been promoted to the position of Director of Communications. She will be primarily responsible for supervising content management teams, developing and implementing marketing strategies, directing media relations and overseeing the company’s overall brand.
“Karin has worked with us for the last seven years and I could not be more pleased to promote her to Director of Communications for our new publishing venture, The Reader’s Guild,” said Fred Tarter. “She has demonstrated exceptional communication skills, has honed her management skills over the years and displays a tremendous talent for connecting with clients. There is nothing I have ever asked her to accomplish that has been beyond her capabilities.”
Karin has been with The Lakeside Group since 2007 and quickly rose to several supervisory and project management positions, acting as Marketing and Social Media Manager for The Lakeside Group’s Cinema Events programs. She brings to her new position her unique experience as a press intern at The Publicity Office as well as a legal assistant in several law offices practicing family law, real estate and personal injury.
“There is no better preparation for a career in marketing and publicity than working for a divorce attorney,” said Karin. “Doubling as a psychologist and bureaucrat to clients who are in the most fragile condition of their lives is an education that translates incredibly well to corporate communications and I am thrilled to extend my experience to this new position.”
Karin received a B.A. in Philosophy from Vassar College in 2003 and is a member of the Internet Marketing Association. She currently lives in Park Slope, Brooklyn with her husband, David.
Dan Levine is joining The Reader’s Guild to serve as Production Manager, overseeing art direction and production. Dan has over 15 years of design and production experience, previously serving as Art Director of Kidz Bop, the leading children’s entertainment brand, and as Art Director for Razor & Tie, an independent entertainment company. Most recently, Dan acted as Head of Production for StarWalk Kids Media, publishing over 500 books, 450 of which were included in Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited program as well as Panasonic’s recently announced HOMETEAM service.
“It is a privilege to work among the staff at The Reader’s Guild where we have a variety of experiences and talents all committed to bringing new authors to public attention,” said Dan. “It is a chance for me to shift to an adult audience and a broader range of literature. The Reader’s Digest acquisition is of course very exciting for us as well - a venerated brand with many possibilities in the new media landscape. If I may crib from Elvis Costello: ‘Every day we write the book’.”
Dan received his B.A. in Fine and Studio Arts from Kenyon College in 1994 and now resides in Queens with his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Lola.
