ST. LOUIS - April 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Hamilton Christian Church, a 118-year-old Disciples of Christ congregation, is donating $2 million to 14 local and global ministries. The congregation, which was founded in 1895 in the City of St. Louis and later moved to a seven-acre site at 10545 Old Olive Street Road in Creve Coeur in 1962, closed the doors of its 24,000-square-foot building on Easter Sunday in 2013. Last month, the congregation sold its property for $2 million to Altus Properties, LLC, and is now donating the money to nonprofit organizations the congregation previously supported through time, talent and funding.

The committee responsible for overseeing the property’s sale is hosting a luncheon on Thursday, April 9 at 11:30 a.m. in Schroer Commons at Eden Seminary in Webster Groves. Executive directors and representatives from all of the recipient ministries will be present.

The recipients include:
Board of Religious Organizations (BRO) – St. Louis, Missouri
Caring Solutions – St. Louis, Missouri
Christian Church Foundation, Hamilton Christian Church Legacy Fund – Indianapolis, Indiana, to benefit:
Disciples Home Missions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Global Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Week of Compassion of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Church World Service
Disciples Women's Ministries – Indianapolis, Indiana
Heifer International – Little Rock, Arkansas (world headquarters)
Higher Education and Leadership Ministries of the Christian Church – St. Louis, Missouri
Isaiah 58 Ministries – St. Louis, Missouri
Memorial Blvd. Christian Church Food Pantry – St. Louis, Missouri
Neighborhood Houses – St. Louis, Missouri
Southeast Gateway Area of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – St. Louis, Missouri
St. Monica Preschool – Creve Coeur, Missouri

Each organization and ministry is using the contributions to support its mission and programs. Hamilton Christian Church did not put any stipulations on the donations. In addition to the $2 million, Hamilton Christian Church also donated pieces of property such as a 19th century organ that went to Eden Seminary and wood pews that are being reused to build homes for the needy. Hamilton’s members wanted to not only close in a positive way, but also make sure everything from the past 118 years could live on and benefit someone else.
