Chef's Choice Plant Sale and Expo

Save water and eat well, too! Learn how at this Urban Farm event.

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - March 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Rodgers Ranch Urban Farm takes the lead in showing the community how to combat drought.  At their annual Expo – this Saturday, April 4th – they will not only sell plants, but are offering free classes on soil:  how to care for it, fertilize it and irrigate it.

They will also offer classes on bio-char, grey water, beekeeping and vermiculture, as well as displays from many local businesses and associations, including Sustainable Contra Costa and Mt. Diablo Beekeepers.

The farm is widely known for its numerous classes, including topics such as biointensive and biodynamic techniques, permaculture and sustainability practices.  Rodgers Ranch is also the site for Farm-to-Table courses offered through Diablo Valley College Culinary Arts program.

At the Expo, student chefs from the college will be cooking BBQ foods (vegan dishes, too). In addition, Diablo Woodworkers will be on hand to help build planter boxes, and local ceramic artists will be displaying their creations and giving pottery demonstrations.
