Tetrachloroethylene (PERC) & Chemical Exposure Concerns Discussed in New Video
The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about important environmental, health & safety (EHS) issues.
PERC is a manufactured chemical that has been used for dry cleaning purposes, as a chemical intermediate, metal degreaser and as a component of some consumer products. Exposure to PERC can also occur in some indoor environments, due to a process known as vapor intrusion, when it enters a home or building and pollutes the indoor air of a structure that has been built over contaminated groundwater or soils.
“The Department of Health and Human Services has determined that tetrachloroethylene may reasonably be anticipated to be a carcinogen and the International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified it as a Group 2A carcinogen,”
This educational video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that work to protect the public’s health. Sponsors include: EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, Indoor Environmental Consultants, Hudson Douglas Public Adjusters, Healthy Indoors Magazine, Maine Indoor Air Quality Council and the 2015 Northeast IAQ & Energy Conference to name just a few.
