Statement: City Council At Large Candidate Cathy Cross On Governor Pence’s LBGT Discrimination B

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - March 27, 2015 - PRLog -- I stand with the good people of Indiana and my neighbors in Fort Wayne in strong opposition to the passage of the discriminatory “Religious Freedom Restoration Act” as written. This disappointing bill was signed in a private ceremony by Governor Mike Pence.

This is the wrong legislation for Indiana and does not reflect our longstanding ideals of fairness, faith, equality and freedom for all our residents. I, as well as all Hoosiers, believe in equality, opportunity, and inclusion – and we reject hatred, divisiveness, discrimination and the severe disruption of commerce that will result from Governor Pence’s extreme ideological actions today.

I believe Hoosiers deserve better than this - because we *are* better than this. If elected Fort Wayne City Council member At-Large, I will represent all voices in Fort Wayne equally, in love, concern and with a true citizen’s perspective. I urge all other candidates to state their positions on the passage of the Freedom of Religion Restoration Act, in the interest of transparency and respect for our voters’ right to know their candidates positions before the May 5th primary.
