Farmers are "harvesting" Solar incentives and energy savings with help of JJR Power

Rising Electricity costs are a growing concern to farmers. Solar can offer a stabilizing solution.

EXCELSIOR, Minn. - March 25, 2015 - PRLog -- Farmers are substantial consumers of energy. In the case of electric power, farmers have not had an trusted alternative that allows them to self-generate – they had to buy from the grid. Small to mid-sized wind turbines have had some impact, but their reliability, maintenance costs, warranty concerns and higher than expected insurance costs have limited small wind penetration. JJR Power is providing solar alternatives for farmers that are concerned about the rising cost of electricity.

The cost of solar has fallen sixty percent from 2008. Additionally, the operating of solar, including insurance, maintenance and reliability (no moving parts), have shown solar to be an excellent alternative. The penetration of solar in Minnesota and elsewhere proves this out. Photovoltaic solar is cost-effective today and saves money long-term. Using currently available incentives, farmers can install either roof-top or ground-mounted systems to replace grid purchases. Over the past six years, photovoltaic solar costs fallen, while utility costs continue to rise. Advances in solar technology, conversion efficiency and system installation have allowed distributed solar to achieve cost structures that provide real and lasting savings to consumers. Considering energy costs in the short and long-term, taking into consideration capital costs – shows that solar can create positive cash flows to consumers.

JJR  Power designs programs to achieve long-term savings at no initital cost or obligation. Putting together the correct incentives and a good project can bring direct and tangible near- and long-term financial improvement to the farm bottom line.

JJR Power can provide all of the information on the direct incentives available at the Federal, State and utility levels which provide long-term, cash savings to farmers. These include the Federal 30% Investment Tax Credit, five-year Accelerated Depreciation, 25% “REAP” Cash Grant and many utility incentive programs.

JJR Power can provide a number of financing  including 3.9% financing based on credit score only for projects that are under $100,000 or no payment/no interest for 12 months.
